This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears? Goldilocks sat on a chair that was too hard, too soft, and finally just right. My students need help in finding their "just right" books. The leveled books will work as a map to help them find books that will be enjoyable and just right.
I don't want to brag, but I believe I have the best students in the whole world!
They are kind, respectful, funny, and extremely persistent.
My second grade students are English language learners in a low income neighborhood.
I work in a public school that has a strong emphasis on science, math, art, and technology.
My Project
Not all of my students are reading at the same level. Unfortunately, I have some students who are reading below grade level. On the other hand, I have students who are reading at and above their grade level. The leveled library will help my students find books that are just right for them.
I also want to transform my classroom library into a more inviting one.
Okay, here's a confession...I think my students deserve a "Pinterest-like" library!
I see pins of beautiful libraries with couches and plants and I want that for my kids. Your donations will help me create a more inviting library for my students. Their reading will improve as they spend more time in the library reading books that will improve their overall reading skills.
