I think I can, I think I can!
We are a kindergarten class with 23 students. We are learning to read and get so excited when we find that "perfect" book. It would be so nice to have a leveled library in our room to choose books from! That "perfect" book would be right there when we need it!!
We have library books and a class library of the classics, but we need the first steps (learning to read) level a-k books that will get us reading fluently. I have requested a set of leveled books, bins to hold them in, student bags to hold their own personal set of "just right" books, and file folders to keep their reading records in.
It's hard for children to get excited and feel successful reading when they don't have the right materials. Children beginning to read need lots and lots of beginner books to get started. These books are short and the children progress quickly - so you need MANY of them.
I hope you can help us with our leveled library. Children LOVE to read when they feel successful! It's so very important to instill a love for reading when the children are young. I hope to help all 23 students feel like readers before the end of the year. Together, we can make a difference!
