My Students
My students are located in city limits, but most of them live in low income housing. They all work well together and bring different background knowledge and skills to our learning environment. We are a Title 1 school in a low-income community. I have twenty-two students in my classroom. Free or reduced breakfast and lunch is provided to 61% of our school population each day.
My students are creative and excited about learning.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success so they do not lose any of the progress that they have made this school year. As of March 16th, we have been doing at home learning. The school is closed for the rest of the school year due to the COVID-19 virus. This presents a challenge, because our school isn't 1-1 with chrome books. Therefore, my kids were not able to take a form of technology home to use during this time. My students will need to continue learning through the supplies that I provide to them.
My Project
We practiced Math facts all of the time. Many students need to keep working on these to get them memorized since they will be promoted to the next grade level regardless of all the lost school time due to the covid-19 virus.
The students will love to be able to continue to make progress in the skills that we were working on this year.
In class we use to do a Mystery Science lesson each week. With the tornado kits, they will get to do their very own Science experiment at home! My students were gaining a real love for writing too. They will be so excited to have their very own journal to do their writing in.
