Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them. I teach 25 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
Covid-19 changed the our way of life. It certainly changed the way I teach. Gone are students collaborating on a rug and working at round tables together on Math and Science projects. Students had to make a major adjustment with nearly all assignments being completed on a computer or tablet. In addition, teachers, such as myself, have to also make major adjustments in how we deliver content to our students without having constantly create new data sheets, and work assignments. As we prepare for to start face-to-face instruction, more adjustments will need to be made.
Having a web camera for our Promethean Board will keep us all connected!
I am teaching students simultaneously, half in the classroom and half on line at the same time. My students want to stay connected to each other, so having a web camera will allow me to project my in person students to our smart board so that everyone can see each other. In addition, the Teacher Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to provide my students with additional supplemental materials in Math and Science that will take us to the end of the school year.
