My Project
Like all kids, my students want to see themselves in the books they read. Far too often the books on our shelves reflect characters who don't look like my students, and whose lives don't reflect their experiences.
These books by Black and brown authors are full of Black and Brown characters, and will allow my students to see themselves in the pages they read. Representation truly matters, and by seeing themselves reflected in the pages of the books they read, my students will know that they belong. The variety of story lines and settings in these books will allow my students to know that every world is open to them and that they have unlimited potential.
