My Students

My PreK scholars are amazing! They are the only full day class in our school. They are eager to learn and love being in school. Our school is very diverse and takes pride in welcoming and engaging all scholars and families. We are committed to creating a school where kids feel safe, loved, and motivated.

As a school, we take pride in creating an environment where we celebrate diversity, discuss and study racial equity, and "inspire all scholars to reach high levels of social and academic achievement through a collaborative system of support" (Our School's Mission Statement).

My Project

My scholars will be able to choose a story from our diverse classroom library that represents themselves and their families. It will give these young children on opportunity to make connections and feel excited to read. For example, a child can read a familiar story such a "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" in English or Spanish. They can read stories about Africa or African American Leaders. They will see themselves represented in my classroom and learn about other cultures as well.

I want my scholars to come to school wanting to be their authentic selves.

My scholars need to feel celebrated, special, and loved at school in order to learn. I am committed to creating a learning space where children and their families feel comfortable, welcome, and well supported.
