Whew! I just finished my 25th year of teaching. I come from a family of teachers. My mom, dad, and three of my five children are teachers, not to mention my two daughters-in-law! I am an ATPE teacher from East Texas. Teaching is a very rewarding job, one of the best in the world. I feel blessed to have this opportunity to serve as a teacher.
This year I am looping from 2nd to 3rd with my class.
This includes two special needs students. My students come from a socio economically disadvantaged district. Many of my students receive free breakfast and lunch - it is a luxury. Some, even receive food “backpacks” for the weekends. We also have a growing Hispanic population. But we are proud to say, through hard work and lots of care, our district has had a 100% graduation rate.
My students feel loved. Tolerance and acceptance is something that is fostered everyday. We live in a small rural community and continue to support former students through school activities such as sports, band and other district activities.
My Project
These workbooks will be used to provide quality work for my third graders in the core subjects of Language Arts and Math. The activities in these workbooks align with the standards that will be taught throughout the school year.
These books will give my students consistent practice, to help build mastery of third grade reading and math TEKS.
I will be able to see and monitor their progress by using these workbooks. We need this practice and review in order to be ready for state testing! These workbooks will be a great help and hopefully bring up our state rating.
