This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

They say a picture is worth 100 words. I truly believe this is an understatement, especially when there are children who do not have cameras at home. I teach kindergarten in a low income neighborhood in South Florida. Photographs excite my children like nothing else. Each grade level has a camera to share and it is very hard to get a hold of it. We use pictures in all sorts of ways to enhance our kindergarten curriculum. Photographs of each child mark their cubbies and backpack hooks. Pictures of classroom materials denote where to put items away. Photographs are also used to make presents and cards for parents. On special occasions we make a slide show of classroom photographs on the computer. It is so exciting for my students to see themselves on a screen and have their very own pictures to take home. Parents are so appreciative, as they do not have their own cameras at home. It means a lot to them to have actual photographs of their children playing and having fun. Each grade level has a camera to share and it is very hard to get a hold of it. The grade level cameras do not have the video feature, which comes in very handy for children who are learning English. Seeing and hearing themselves speak is a great way for them to listen to how they form words. The live replay really helps them to correct their linguistic and articulation mistakes. I am asking for a digital camera with a video feature for my classroom. Your donation would really help brighten my classroom and bring such joy to 17 wonderful children.
