My Project
I teach at a small middle school in a small school district. The district I teach in only has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. The majority of the students live in poverty and are homeless. What I mean by homeless is that the parent(s) and the children are living with other relatives, because they do not have a home of their own. The middle school I teach at is a Title I school, which means that we receive funds from the government to get some of the resources that we need. In addition, the students all receive free lunch and breakfast every day.
Everyday I have students who ask for a highlighter or headphones to help them with their assignments.
I thought it would be a great idea to replenish these tools in our Student Supply Station in my classroom so students can continue to have access to these basic classroom supplies they need.
Why not supply my students with the tools they need to be successful? I will do anything I can for that to happen. I always want to make sure that my students are successful and that they have the tools needed to be successful.
My goal every day, is to make my classroom a safe, learning environment, so that my students work toward being successful scholars every day. I try to make learning as engaging as I can, because I know that many students can be turned off from it because they feel school is boring. I teach my students that history happens every day and they are a part of it. I love seeing the expressions on their faces when they begin to discuss historical events.
