I have the privilege of spending my days with eager, curious, and enthusiastic 7 and 8-year-olds who want to do their very best at everything they try. They are growing up in a world that allows them to be individuals and respects their individual differences and learning styles.
Each year, I try something new to allow for greater flexibility and to encourage collaboration and deeper learning.
I am very excited about the dream I have for the students I am working with this year!
My Project
Donors have been so very gracious and generous in fulfilling my dreams of providing my students with flexible seating options through both the choices in seats and the smooth work spaces! There is one vital component remaining in completing my vision for my classroom.
I dream of providing work spaces that would allow students a place to work in a personal space when they feel they would learn best by working alone.
The trapezoid tables requested will allow my students the opportunity to work independently so they can focus better, as well as to have the chance to get a little space when they are feeling a little overwhelmed or need "thinking space."
Humans thrive on interactions with one another and learning can certainly be deepened when discussing discoveries or pondering possibilities with peers, but sometimes we all need a little space. The tables we have been blessed to receive have been wonderful in supporting group collaboration and teamwork, but I also want to be able to provide a couple of personal work spaces to meet the need for independence, as well. This will be the final phase in my quest to offer flexible seating and quality work spaces in my classroom. I am extremely grateful for the makeover we have completed together and look forward to this final piece!
