Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them. I teach 25 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
This has been a year like no other. Teaching during a pandemic has been challenging and rewarding. As restrictions are lifting, we will be back in the classroom teaching face to face! I have eight garden boxes outside my classroom and my students are itching to get their hands in them!
We need dirt!
The soil in these boxes haven't been touched in over a year! The soil requested in this project will be used to refresh our garden boxes so that we can plant flowers and vegetables! This "dirt" will make our lunch! Radishes, peas, carrots and more!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
