This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at a brand new charter school that has only been open for four months, but is already doing amazing things for kids. Our students and teachers are incredibly motivated and put their all into learning every day.
Our students come primarily from low-income backgrounds, but that doesn't stop them from striving to be the best scholars they can be!
In four short months, they have learned the systems and routines that will help all of us to be successful and help close the achievement gap between our students and their more affluent peers.
My Project
In focusing on building literacy skills for our students, I have built up a large library to allow all of our students to access books that are on their reading level. I have so many books that we need more bookshelves in our classrooms to house all of them - a great problem to have! Additionally, I are hoping to use some Apple TVs to project books from iPads, giving my students access to even more literary resources!
Your donations to this project will help our school to build our literacy program, ensuring that all students are fluent readers by third grade.
If our students are fluent readers by third grade, they will be in a position to be able to read to learn, a skill that is imperative to success in fourth grade and beyond. These resources will help to keep our books organized and allow teachers to access even more books online!
