This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At our school, our wonderful students share a secret. Don't tell them I told you, but they LOVE TO READ! Every day, students come up to me before school, during lunch, or during another favorable time in which we could discuss the books we read.

Of course, they wouldn't want you to know this because, at our school, reading is not deemed cool just yet.

Therefore, I am determined to change the reading culture; our voracious readers deserve it. Thank you for your support.

My Project

These books will be crucial for creating a culture of reading at our school. The books that I've included in my project are either best-selling books or books that align with our students' interests.

Currently, our school does not have a school library; but the ELA department is striving to create classroom libraries in our ELA classes to initiate reading campaigns.

For example, we plan to have book review walls wherein students will have the opportunity to critique the books they read, recommending particular books and galvanizing their peers to be excited about reading. Lastly, we will set expectations for each student to read every day, and as reading becomes more common, we will seek to expand our reading options.
