My students are like sponges, soaking up every bit of information that I present to them.

In the middle of a big city, my students are learning how to read everyday. They have some background knowledge, but need help with more vocabulary and non-fiction reading.

My Project

My students need 15 sets of non-fiction guided reading books. The sets of non-fiction texts will be used during guided reading small groups. Reading non-fiction will not only help their reading ability and fluency, but will also allow me to connect reading and science. The sets of books will also help to keep their interest in reading, allowing them to make connections and see how their world works.

Your donations will help to grow great readers and keep the love of reading alive in my classroom.

The non-fiction books will also help me to bridge the gap that we have with limited science instruction time in the classroom.
