This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an inner-city school in Los Angeles, California where 100% of the students at the school receive free lunch. My students come from very low-income families where technology is not easily available.
Despite the many obstacles they face, my students are eager to learn.
They enjoy coming to school every day because it is their safe haven where everyone can be themselves. My English Language Learners are motivated by the fun and engaging lessons that I provide for them.
My Project
Math can include some challenging concepts for students to grapple with, and I am lucky enough to nurture the love of math at an early age. The use of these fun and engaging manipulatives will help me create joy in math. I will model the manipulatives while I teach the concept in a exciting way.
Students simply love using the same materials that the teacher uses which is why the students will get a chance to use the manipulatives during center time, keeping them actively involved in learning!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
