My Students

My students attend a public elementary school on the west side of Chicago where 100% of our students come from low income households. These students often don't have the resources to use technology at home, and many do not have home access to the Internet. For this reason, it is important that students can utilize technology in the classroom in a variety of positive and proactive ways.

My students love to use the computers to play learning games and to conduct research on science topics.

This year, we conducted research on life cycles and even created videos of plant and butterfly life cycles for our class YouTube channel!

My Project

Our third grade classroom utilizes one-to-one technology in the classroom, with each student assigned to a classroom laptop. Students use these computers to type papers, conduct research and use educational programs.

These educational programs require students to listen to their individualized assignments.

This requires each student to have a pair of headphones. The requested headphones will help students learn at their own pace and follow their individualized learning programs on their classroom computers.

In addition to interacting with these educational programs, students will use headphones during standardized testing on the computer and to complete creative video and audio projects.
