Help me give my students an iPad to explore the artists from their STEAM lessons and cool, artsy and fun prizes like decorate your own pencil bags to look forward to after an OUTSTANDING job!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever wanted to feel like part of something? Have you ever thought that school was just not for you? Well, I’m here to change your mind. With this after-school art club and school store I’m going to do just that. My kiddos will learn about artists that were brilliant and full of innovation such as Leonardo da Vinci and famous Navajo Native Americans. We will be plunged so far into learning about Science, Technology, Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) that we will forget that we’re learning and actually enjoying it!
My Pre Kindergarten through of learning students reside in Houston Texas and they're Houston Strong and STEAM ready.
My school kiddos all get free breakfast and 90% of them are eligible for free lunch. No matter how their school day started or ended I want to be there to show them that school is a fun place to be!
My Project
You're having the Monday Blues, but today is the day you get to go to the school store and use your Cardinal Cash and get that cool calculator eraser that you’ve been wanting. What better way than to start the day with a new cool eraser, that you earned, and end the day in a club full of your friends getting artsy? Not only are some of my kiddos just having a “bad day” but we just marked a year after Hurricane Harvey and some of our kiddos are still feeling the effects of it.
With this project I hope to get tools/incentives such as glitter glue, sharpies, paint brushes, gel pens, decorate your own pencil cases, totes, aprons, and treasure chests that my kiddos can decorate with their own special touch after they have earned these cool items by saving up their Cardinal Cash that they earned for being Superstar Students.
Having something tangible to look forward to other than the free school breakfast and lunch is a great way to start the day.
My students will also use the iPad to explore all of the cool science/art things that we learn about in our After School Art Club and earn incentives for being the “STEAMER” of the day and timers to keep to them on track. My goal is to help get my kiddos stress off of their back by providing them a fun after-school club and be able to offer them incentives such as the gel pens and totes to put an extra smile on their faces. I want to let them know that school is a fun place to be!
