As a reading specialist, I service students in kindergarten through fifth grade. I teach in Title I school, where we practice the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. The majority of my students are English language learners, coming from a variety of countries.
My students are hard workers, who set high goals for themselves.
Often asking for extra materials to take home to practice their reading with, or to play the newest reading game. They love to read and strive to become better readers. They are true leaders.
My Project
My students love technology, likewise they will be engaged in building their reading skills when using an iPad. Students can use the iPad to read books on using apps like Epic, Raz-Kids, and Learning Ally. In addition to reading, my students can add to their reading portfolios and communicate with their families on what is happening in the classroom using the app, SeeSaw. My students can also play games that will sharpen skills in the area of reading. Last, many of my students are working on improving their reading fluency. We can use the iPad to record their reading, so they can hear themselves, in addition, they can share their reading with others.
