it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you want to help teens love reading? You can by helping me buy their favorite novels. Having these books already available to check out when my students return to school in the fall will surprise and delight them!
Before I came on board as the school librarian and started buying relevant, accessible, teen-friendly books, I have been told that very few students visited the library.
Now gaggles of students stampede through the doors on a daily basis and beg me to buy more of the books they are finding there. With only 70% of our students passing the Exit Exam to graduate high school, I need all the help I can wrangle to provide my students with engaging literature so that they will discover the magic of reading and bolster their comprehension skills.
My Project
I want to keep the momentum going. The books I carefully chose are the next installment in their cherished series and the next published books by their beloved authors. As soon as we start school in the fall, I want to open the front doors and advertise the new books to compel my library groupies to utilize the library as soon as possible as well as to recruit new patrons. A great many of our students won't have read a book all summer. I want to reinvigorate their thirst for reading the very first day of school!!!

Obviously you are as passionate about connecting young people to books. I hope you will feel drawn to help me sustain this literary union. The quicker I can reintroduce the love of reading to them after it has been paused over the summer, the stronger their bond with literature will grow and develop throughout the year.
