Help me give my students a Hand 2 Mind experience to fill gaps in their learning because they are tactile learners and need a way to create by touching and using VersaTiles Self-Check.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At-home learning through e-classrooms and a virtual Google Meets for 90 minutes each class, ALL DAY has hit these young students, and me quite a bit differently than others dealing with COVID-19. As I approach the second semester of distance virtual at-home learning and working at a G.L.O.B.A.L. school I need to provide these young developing minds with ALL resources they should have and unfortunately still do not have full access with testing just around the corner.
My students are 99% English Language Learners and ALL receive free lunch.
They took their exams in their first language and now everything is in English and they are struggling readers that are compassionate and caring.
They are remaining at home to ensure their safety and longevity of life while trying to be educated through this pandemic at a crucial year of life seventh-grade. The summer program for the district offered so much for the students, yet there is NO support at all for the materials to be available to the students at home and allow them to achieve the same level of success.
My Project
I need to create individual sets for students that are learning at home via distance learning virtually. Many students have severe connectivity issues throughout our 90-minute class and are required to be on screen the entire time. However, when their internet goes out and not having been issued a physical textbook this year, although consumable they have NO method to continue learning offline.
These books and sets will help them limit excessive screen time, continue to learn, and communicate with me any points of confusion once they submitted their personal pattern based on their selected answers.
These sets will be a benefit for the next year as well. It is a sure way to help aid them in their academic growth not just for one year but two years and beyond.
