Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students entered our class with basic writing skills for various reasons. Many come with Interrupted Formal Education from other countries. Others have difficulty with grammar, weak reasoning and arguments. My goal is to make sure they improve their writing skills with minimum interruption.
My students enter our 7th grade Social Studies and English as a New Language class with different former education experiences.
Some come from other countries where they receive an excellent education in their native language while others come with interrupted education where they do not learn the basic writing and reading skills. However many of those who had the privilege to receive a continuous education in English still need a lot of help in polishing their writing and analytical skills in our social studies class. Our school focus is to work on students writing skills to ensure that all students regardless of their abilities improve and feel motivated.
My Project
These writing utensils will help students focus on learning rather than making sure they came prepare with the insignificant but so needed pencil. Many students struggle with major necessities and therefore the minimum they worry about is bringing a pencil to school. Many don't come prepare because they do not have a person who help them get organized. Others simply forget or because they need to learn organization skills. However all these reasons end up with the same outcome "Students who are not ready to write in class". My purpose and goal is to ensure that during our 45 minutes class students spend the minimum time possible preparing themselves to start learning and the maximum time possible producing meaningful work. These pencils will certainly make a difference in our class. Help us achieve our goal. Passing a pencil with a smile makes a difference in a child who struggles with major issues. I may not change his/her world but I can make the learning process more comfortable. My students need writing utensils for our social studies class, dry erase markers, and laminating sheets to keep our created charts safe for a long time.
My students will not worry about pencils.
They will worry about what to write with the provided pencil. They will spend their time activating background knowledge and applying it to challenging writing tasks.
