Imagine being a preschooler and going to school for the first time virtually. My students are curious, willing to learn, explore, and eager to learn as much as they are exposed to virtually. It's great seeing their eyes light up when they are presented new discoveries.
My Project
"Marcus, share with Amir how you painted your robot. I think Amir made his robot with playdough". My students are participating in their first preschool inclusion class virtually. Young learners learn best through hands-on opportunities. Our preschoolers need opportunities to discover with various materials but their opportunities are limited because they are working from home and have limited resources. We are trying to find ways they can experience preschool at home while socializing with peers on their computer. We also want them to be able to express their individual talents and not be limited by having certain materials. We want each child to have equal access to as many art and math materials at home.
We want each preschooler to have a variety of materials readily available to use when they are discovering various projects, inventions, and art during the virtual art or math center time at home.
If our preschoolers were in the physical classroom, they would have access to various math tools and art materials to experiment with and experience besides basic crayons. The children would be able to announce what they want to create and have a choice of materials to use. These materials will give the preschoolers an opportunity to experiment and not be limited to just paper and crayons when they choose to create something at home during virtual art/math center time. These materials will also give all of the children in the class equal access to various materials when sharing what they did during virtual center time.
