My Students

Our school community is very tight knit and supportive of student & teacher initiatives. The amount of time the parents and students put into charitable organizations is admirable. Our students are always looking to help out other schools and even children in other countries. Each year we find new initiatives to work on to give back to those who really need it. Their enthusiasm and spirit make working at Tatem so rewarding. I would love to give back in the classroom with flexible seating.

My Project

Our classroom environments should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This cannot be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day. Flexible seating options in the classroom will allow my students to explore their own learning style. It will provide options for everyone, yet still include the traditional elements of desks and chairs for those who learn best that way.

I want to foster an environment where kids feel comfortable and no one is singled out.

The items in my donors choose wishlist will provide seating options to students who may need movement while working, some may prefer to stand, while others will want to work on the floor with a lap desk.

The active learning stools and stability ball chairs allow movement which I find a lot of my students benefit from, it's hard to sit still all day. The floor cushions and lap desks will allow students to create their own space on the floor either in a collaborative group or independently. The inflatable chairs will fit perfectly in my cozy reading corner. I want the classroom space to feel like"ours".
