This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Currently, our students use headphones to log in and complete lessons on literacy websites. Many of the headphones are broken or damaged due to regular wear and tear, and there is very little money in the budget to purchase new ones at this point in the year. This is especially problematic for students who are falling behind with their reading levels, because the programs that help them are usually the ones where the passages are read out loud to them. They benefit greatly from hearing the words and following along on the screen; however, that cannot happen without headphones.
We also were recently given a grant for a math program that builds fluency.
The students do not have headphones and cannot work with the program unless they can hear the directions.
These headphones will be used daily and each student will need their own to use to prevent the spread of germs and Covid.
