My Project
Art is one of the key ways that many students who do not do well academically are able to show their talents, express their feelings and feel good about their final products and themselves.
Art is a fun time to explore and create.
Many of my students who are not good at academics shine through their artwork.
However- a common problem that I face constantly is not being able to finish an artwork in one class setting since I usually only visit each class about 40 minutes or less every 8 days. In a school with over 700 students, I cannot carry and store their artwork in my office space. So- I have to entrust that each student keep their art projects until I return. As you can imagine- there are students in every class who cannot find their artwork and then has to start over again. So I had to think of a way to keep them better organized.
One of my first art projects is to have my students design a folder to keep their art projects in. I have different themes for each grade level. Seeing how each student interprets the theme in their own way is aways exciting. I have been relying on each homeroomʻs teacher to help me provide the folders for their students, but I would like to help my colleagues out by providing the folders myself. Having other supplies like tape, post-its, and clips will also help them to fix tears, write notes and keep their artwork more organized.
I believe my folders and supplies will keep my studentsʻ artwork in one place, and motivate all of my students to further succeed and feel good about themselves and their artwork!
