My Students

Technology is ever changing. I have a class of 20 third graders that crave to learn, grow, and create work that they are proud of. I want to teach them to use technology in a safe and effective way that will enhance their learning.

Currently, we do not have the opportunity to do that in our district.

My students come from different socio-economic backgrounds (majority middle to lower socio-economic), different abilities, and different needs. I am fortunate to be able to greet their hungry minds daily and am truly lucky to work with such dedicated, caring, and nurturing educators. I want to instill a love for learning in my classroom; a distinctive need to grow and become life long learners. Unfortunately, with budget cuts, we do not have access to technology to be able to learn and explore. However, we are fortunate to visit the computer lab once a week for 40 minutes.

My Project

The Common Core State Standards is in place to get students college and career ready. The CCSS expects students to be self-directed learners that can research and use digital reference materials. With this iPad I will be able to reach students through differentiated instruction, by providing reteaching opportunities for struggling learners and enrichment activities for students who have already mastered concepts. My third graders will have the chance to conduct research for our social studies and science units. In addition, there are many apps that will enhance their learning; math apps that will enable students to visualize. The possibilities are endless!

This technology will increase student engagement and provide my students with enrichment opportunities.

In addition, my third graders will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the common core standards. This iPad and protective cover will allow us to enhance our learning and provide such invaluable experience in our classroom!
