My Students
How would it feel to have so much to say but no one can understand you?
As a speech/language pathologist I work with students in an Early Child Special Education classroom.
While many of these students are significantly delayed and just learning how to speak, there are a few who seem to have a lot to say, or want to speak, but no one can understand them. These children have Apraxia of Speech and lack the motor ability to initiate the sound sequences necessary for intelligible speech.
My Project
The Kaufman Speech Praxis Treatment Kids for Children is a highly recommended program to address the needs of children with Apraxia of Speech. I have attended the workshops to learn how to implement the Kit as well as the research behind the system. This Kit works! It begins with the students at their specific level of speech and through multiple practice and modeling increases the children's ability to be able to produce more complex words and increase their speech intelligibility.
