I teach in a third grade classroom within a community of high-need. My classroom is located in the heart of a large city. My classroom of students are in need of donations and classroom supplies.
Throughout my school district there is a program being completed to screen school aged children for vision problems. My students were just recently screened and I was amazed at the number of children who could not clearly see. Everyday all day long these children are trying to learn though a hazy cloud of vision problems. Teaching is centered around children being able to clearly see what the teacher is demonstrating and explaining to them.
The LCD Projector will increase the size of all of the material being discussed in the classroom so that the children can see a little better. The Projector will provide our classroom with the technological tool to help all the students to achieve and learn.
I do understand that these students do need glasses to truly help them as they make their way through school. Their families do not seem to have the financial means to buy these necessities. The Projector will help in the meantime. The children can continue to learn and progress through their third grade year.
