Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my project, I have books that I already have in English, that I'd like to provide copies of in Spanish as well. In the past 5 months, we have welcomed students from diverse Spanish speaking countries.
My first goal is to have a library that is inclusive of all its patrons.
The goal of this project is to not only have books in their native language, but interesting and current subject matters.
Many of these books are high-interest books that my kids actually want to read. The books that I've requested will specifically benefit my students who are familiar with a story in one language be able to access it in another. It will also give students the opportunities to discuss books with their peers and build community around books and reading. This community will provide multilingual enrichment and learning for my students, who represent a diverse and multicultural sector of our community.
