My Students

Did you know that children that write well are better readers? Developing writing skills lets children express themselves as they become better readers and writers.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds.

Many of them come from homes where there is little support for learning. Still, most of them are enthusiastic and eager to learn. Kindergarten is the first school experience for many of my children, and they really enjoy learning, especially when it's fun.

My Project

I have requested supplies that are designed to help foster a love of writing. But these supplies don't only foster a love of writing, they give the children supports as they learn. The writing centers and whiteboards are so much fun the children don't even notice they're learning. The word journals give the children a resource to help in their writing and completing their journals makes the children so proud.

Kindergarten is a year filled with discoveries.

It sets the stage for life-long learning. I want to create life-long writers! Writing is an outlet for the children and they are so proud when they make accomplishments they can see and show to others. Over the year the children go from writing their name, to writing all their letters, to writing words, to writing sentences, to telling stories and sharing their opinions. It would mean so much and make this learning easier if we had these supplies.
