This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me provide sewing machines, cutting mats, rulers, scissors, thread, an iron, and pressing mat to create a quilting club at school. My students live in a lower income community and are not able to dream about what they do not know about. Many of them are familiar with sewing machines, but more in the commercial and garment industry.

I want to provide a way for students to express their creativity and learn skills they can use for a lifetime.

Students will be able to create a quilt that they are able to take with them. They will learn basic sewing machine skills along with cutting and pressing.

This will be a new school club with other opportunities to quilt and sew throughout the year.
