Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help make learning independent and individualized. Current Math programs include advanced animations and videos that can be distracting in a room full of 25-30 independent learners that are learning English and are challenged with learning disabilities.
My students are in 6th grade and will be attending middle school for the first time.
Many are new to an American middle school as English Language Learners. One third of my students are receiving support services from a Special Education teacher. All of my students will be using a new web-based Math curriculum for the first time this year.
My Project
The headphones will change the way students focus on their work and become independent learners on the computer. Comfortable ear pieces and volume control will replace ear buds that can be damaging to the ear. Students will be using the earphones 3-4 days a week for the entire school year. Students will learn the value of taking care of school property and treating the learning equipment with respect, to allow future users to have access.
Overall, the earphones will provide safety to the ears and privacy in the learning environment in a room full of 25-30 students using individual computers.
For students with English Language development and learning disabilities, they are able to focus which allows them to stay on task more frequently and learn from bell to bell.
