Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students come from a low SES background, so having a place to belong, to know that they are cared for is an important part of emphasizing success. Their lives come from chaos, and school is the safe zone.
School is to empower, to give a voice, to know that the backgrounds of the students will not determine their future.
One way this project will help is by letting the students know it is okay to feel. Emotions are okay, controlling the emotions to benefit, not hurt, is important. Included in the project are a few strong skill-building activities.
The second part our a number of books and resources to show inclusion in the classroom. Having a visual representation of students similar to themselves benefits them.
More than half of students from low‑income households
