This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After a year and a half of online learning, this school year came with a learning process of acceptance of self and others. As students grow into the acceptance of being part of the LGBTQ community, it's important to understand their journeys and experiences. Being in physical education has a unique position in this process, as now students are "dressing" for PE class, which can make some LGBTQ students or non-LGBTQ students feel confused or insecure. We will use the books, as the beginning of discussions of acceptance and others. The tables will be used to moderate discussions in a safe place, and in a space close enough where every student can be seen and heard.
Understanding and acceptance of self and others can be done with exchanging of thoughts and experience.
Our goal is to make every student feel included, as school for many is their second home and they should feel included always. We want our students to look forward to PE class, knowing we have taken the time and care to have these discussions.
