My Project
This project will teach kindergarten students all about community helpers and the people that make up our daily lives. Our classroom is a great place to begin learning about community service and practicing community rolls as we work on social skills and creating a space that is welcoming to all.
The books I have chosen all offer age appropriate stories that will engage and direct our conversations on community service and the rolls that people play within the community.
These conversations help build understanding of how our community helps us as well as inspire kindness and caring as well as occupational dreams that students can see themselves in fulfilling. In kindergarten we need to model and explain how to behave and interact with others since these skills are just budding at this early age. I also have a few books on controlling anger, a popular stuffy to be used as a calming corner reading buddy for times when students can self regulate and need to regroup, and educational picture card games.
The photo frame will be used for the pictures from the community service projects we undertake this year and they can have this memorable keepsake forever!
