This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In second grade we learn about important people who change the world. Brad Meltzer's I Am books are single handedly the most engaging resources to do this with. My students love the graphic novel format that teaches them why each one of these heroes is someone to celebrate.
My primarily Spanish speaking English language learners would benefit from having the ability to access these fantastic books in their native language as well.
By giving them the opportunity to read the Spanish and English versions, they can truly grasp the content and then still work collaboratively with their peers on the projects we create in conjunction.
