Help me give my students this Fluency Practice Library! These books will give students the abundant reading practice they need to become fluent readers who understand what they read. In addition, these engaging books motivate students to read independently!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is hard to put into words how it feels to support a child in taking on the identity of a reader! Seeing their precious little faces light up when they realize they are able to discern what all of those marks on the page say is absolutely priceless! My students have grit, tenacity, and the will to learn to become better readers each and every day when they come to my room for their daily 30-minute sessions with me, Mrs. Thiakos, our school's amazingly proud Reading Specialist!

I have chosen these particular books because they are considered "easy-to-read" trade books for students who are approaching an end-of-first-grade reading level. Students will have daily access to these books to practice applying the phonics skills they have been learning and are beginning to master in our reading intervention groups.
