Hygiene Matters for Future Careers for Students With Disabilities

Help me give my students personalized hygiene kits to build their self-esteem and educate them about healthy personal choices to prepare them for future success in the workplace.

My Project

We are a transitional-vocational based high school for students with special needs. Our students are learning entry-level job skills and practicing soft skills in classrooms with simulated job skills. Our students are preparing for tomorrow, today, and can benefit from personalized hygiene kits to practice personal grooming and professional presentation to prepare them for careers of tomorrow. Our students have been diagnosed with multiple disabilities such as autism, intellectual disabilities, and have physical limitations. Our students can benefit from personalized hygiene kits that can be used as part of instruction in their vocational-based curriculum to learn proper hygiene and daily grooming habits to help them prepare for professional roles. Feeling good and smelling good can develop our students self-esteem, improve self-advocacy skills, and build confidence to enter the professional world of tomorrow.

Our students come from low-income families and can use some support to get essential everyday needs met.

Our female students are learning how to manage their developmental needs and our male students are learning how to manage body odor after a long and hard day's work.

Our students' classroom are stations as simulated workplaces, such as a school cafe, botanical indoor and outdoor garden, and work in retail spaces. Students can practice their hygiene habits and can benefit from personalized hygiene kits to learn how proper hygiene and presentation can affect their future career goals. Our students are developing teenagers and can benefit from the support of practicing proper hygiene in the workplace and in their classrooms with talented educators. Support our school community by giving each student the gift of freshness and confidence.
