This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have some of the most amazing and unique students around. The majority of my students do not come from affluent homes and often lack proper hygiene skills. Most students wear clothes that do not fit them, are worn out, or dirty.
They love to learn, but have a hard time progressing when their basic needs aren't being met.
I know my students could not only grow in their self confidence, but could grow in their learning if they didn't have to worry about hygiene, hunger, or sleep.
My Project
Students at my school often come from homes where parents struggle to make ends meet. Often parents work 2-3 jobs just to pay for basic needs. Students often come to school without taking care of their basic hygiene needs.
By having a hygiene kit, students can learn to take care of their own basic needs and prepare themselves physically to be ready to learn.
Students who are in need will receive a kit to keep at school or at home, whichever will suit the student best. They will be able to keep their teeth healthy and ultimately gain greater confidence in themselves.
