This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is a Title I high school with a high percentage of students from low-income families. Additionally, our school has a large population of special education students that often struggle having basic hygiene and hydration supplies. Our students are affected by their low socioeconomic status and are not exposed to many of the experiences often taken for granted by the general population.

I need your help to offer my special education students flavored water choices to keep them hydrated and help alleviate their symptoms of fatigue, anxiety, and thirst.

Although every day is a challenge, we are 100% committed to meet the needs of our special needs students. School is their happy place away from home where they grow and learn in a safe, comfortable, healthy, and compassionate environment.

They spend most of their time in adaptive learning settings to help them with their individualized learning according to their IEPs to fulfill their reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and life skills.

My goal is for my students to choose a flavored water bottle that they will drink throughout their school day to quench their thirst. Thereafter they will refill and reuse the water bottle with water from our water supply dispenser until the end of the day. I’m also including nourishing lip balms and hygienic single use cleansing wipes.
