This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 5th grade math and science. I also sponsor our school's Garden/Environmental Club (grades 3-8). We do have an outside garden and greenhouse on campus. However, I would love to provide my students with this indoor learning opportunity, as we live in a very hot climate.
An (indoor) hydroponic garden would allow my students to grow herbs and vegetables year-round, as they love to cook as much as they enjoy gardening.
The students will learn how it is possible to grow plants indoors, AND without soil. These are valuable life skills, environmental science, and technology lessons. These kids are highly motivated about personal health and the environment.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
