My Students
I teach at a small urban school in San Francisco. Students come from areas of the city with high rates of poverty and trauma. We work to create a school where students are excited and feel safe to learn. This happens by creating inviting and an engaging classroom and field trip experiences.
Our students are just beginning to develop a sense of independence that will last a lifetime.
They love to have their own jobs and try things for themselves.
My Project
Many times when we attend field trips as a class, I end up carrying a large heavy bin filled with cold lunches from our cafeteria. If students bring a lunch from home they are carrying a fancy lunch box provided by their parents.
I am hoping to get these bags and water bottles so that students have a convenient way to carry their own lunches while keeping their hands free.
The water bottles will ensure that my students have access to plenty of drinking water. We often end up walking a lot on our days away from school and drinking fountains can be few and far between.
