Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is a Title I school with a high percentage of students from low-income families. Additionally, our school has a large population of ELLs (English language learners), which means they are trying to learn the English language while also attempting to meet the expectations of the Colorado Standards set for all high school students across the state, regardless of background.
I would like to provide flavored water to keep my students hydrated to be more focused and on task.
So they do not have to be worried about being thirsty.
Due to low-income backgrounds, most of our students have not been exposed to many of the experiences often taken for granted by the general population.
Students spend most of their time learning reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and life skills. Each day is a challenge, and we do our best to meet the needs of our students. School is often their happy place, where they grow and learn in a safe, comfortable, healthy, and understanding environment.
My students will use the water when they are thirsty. After getting the water bottles, the students will use those bottles at the water fountain to fill them up for the rest of the day and stay hydrated. Since we only have a bottle filler fountain now.
