This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

With 15% of our student population in temporary housing, 100% having disabilities, and 37% learning English as a New Language (ENL), we are determined to ensure each scholar shines to the brightest of their abilities. The diversity in our school has created scholars who are caring, fearless, accepting, and eager to learn. Our motto is "Stronger Together!”

When provided with the supports they need, our scholars continually demonstrate the ability to bounce back from the challenges they face.

We recognize this resilience when we observe our scholars' determination, grit, and perseverance in tackling problems and coping with the social, emotional, and academic challenges of school and life.

My Project

As we continue to tackle this school year, one thing has become apparent and that is my students are struggling to focus. Their young bodies no longer get to release as much energy as before due to the health and safety guidelines we all must follow while in school. Because of this, they lack the energy and focus needed while learning. As the weather begins to change, I fear that this will become even more challenging for them. Because of this, I want to help refuel them by offering a refreshing drink and a midday snack.

Studies show that food is essential as fuel for the body, as stated by Virginia Wolf, "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well"
