Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most hardworking students in our school.

All of my students are special education students.

They are students with Autism, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Language Disabilities or Other Health Impairments.

These disabilities make learning more difficult for them. In addition, over 65% of my students are English Language Learners, many of these students are still learning how to speak English. Our school has the highest Hispanic population in the state. Our school also qualifies as a Title One School: over 85% of our students live in poverty and receive free/reduced lunch. Despite all of these obstacles, these students are eager to come to school each day. They always try their best and never give up when they face hardships. The students at this school are really special, and their enthusiasm and willingness to learn make teaching them such a joy.

My Project

Our school has brand new water fountains that are specifically designed for refilling water bottles. If my students had personal water bottles, not only would they remain hydrated and healthy but also they would not have to ask to go get water and miss part of their class instruction time.

It is proven that eating a healthy snack and eating smaller portions during the day helps improve learning.

Many of my students don't have enough food at home to bring a snack to school. These healthy snacks will help provide the energy needed to ensure that students will always do their best.
