My Students
These materials are for a wonderful group of fourth graders whom are excited about learning! They will be starting the year off from home and I want to make sure they have the materials and tools they need to be successful! My favorite part of teaching is helping my students develop a love for learning! Our school is amazing, and it is a very warm and inviting place. We have a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students working hard every day to help everyone succeed.
My school has a very diverse population of students and families.
We are located in what some call a bedroom community, because parents work farther from home. Some of our students are low income, English Language Learners, come from single parent homes, or are living with other guardians. It can be challenging meeting the needs of the varying abilities and backgrounds of the students, but it is something I enjoy doing. I am looking to instill a love for learning in my students.
My Project
Yay, we are back to in person learning with a hybrid model. Because of COVID, I have a limited amount of space in my room. I would like to provide the students with individual mailboxes for work/papers to take home. We also need a chart to help groups stay organized for small groups at home.
"Early research on using the bowl in the classroom suggests that it helps students focus their minds on the learning to come, relax and calm down, and create an atmosphere of openness." This quote is from one educator's experience with a singing bowl.
I also have witnessed the calming affect a singing bowl has during a summer school course. With COVID, any support for social emotional is key for these kids.
We need small whiteboards that fit in our work bins. The whiteboards are great for math but also a wonderful place to draw to save paper. I am also requesting kick bands for those who like to fidget. These bands helps students concentrate and focus on their work but allow them to fidget.
Finally, I have requested a gift card to TeachersPayTeachers so that I can purchase some morning work options. In the past, students would have a soft start, meaning no busy work but rather a chance to ease into the day. However, because students must stay at their desk, students are often late with our bus schedules, and because we are a bit behind, I am opting to do morning work review and catch up.
