Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the most amazing kiddos! They are bright, energetic and curious. As budding computer programmers, mathematicians, engineers and scientists, they clamor for more opportunities to engage in computer programming and STEM: science, technology, engineering and math explorations in school and beyond.

We are a kindergarten to fifth grade, Title 1 elementary school with five hundred children.

All students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a proactive school with several before and after-school tutoring and community outreach programs. Our students' families struggle financially, but everyone is dedicated to helping our parents provide for their children.

The educators and support staff are amazing for their dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of our students. Our goal is to give each student the very best education and the best support possible at all times. We have many students entering our Orlando classrooms who have been displaced due to Hurricanes Maria and Irma. These students are new to the English language, and we need materials to support their learning. As they come, we will not fail in our mission to embrace them with open arms and our students share our same vision.

My Project

My students come from challenging backgrounds and low income homes. Reading and listening to books online in my project is a great way for them to escape to a world of adventure, while learning how to persevere through challenges in life and learn how to discover their strengths and use them to their benefit and others.

My students coming from Puerto Rico struggle with the English language, comprehension, and life skills; it is very important to me that they develop the skills they need to function well in our society.

With this book set my students will be able to achieve lifelong success by building vocabulary, comprehension and fluency skills while enjoying escapades from characters who are a lot like them.

The books that I have in this project will be a fantastic fit to encourage and equip them to pursue their dreams.
