My Students
Our school was severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey, so now we are housed at our local high school. Even before the hurricane, our students faced many adversities because of their low socioeconomic status. Many of my students families had a difficult time meeting their daily basic needs. Despite my students' obstacles, they are great kids and still strive to be successful. Their efforts are many times thwarted because we don't have a variety of instructional materials available to us. Even with the lack of basic supplies, we still strive to be the best. Hurricane Harvey hit us but it didn't kill us.
My Project
After Hurricane Harvey, our students were really discourage about learning. So, I want to give them a classroom where they feel important and loved. I want to start a classroom store where my students need laptops, hanging shoe organizers, fidget spinners, bracelets, rings, gift cards, snacks, cool incentives and drinks to help manage our classroom store items and inventory. The printer with ink will help my students keep track of our classroom store inventory by having them create and print a spreadsheet of all inventory coming in and out of our classroom store. It is very challenging to instruct children and expect them to give their best efforts when they feel like no one cares. Giving them a classroom where their learning will be both fun and hands-on, our classroom store would be a permanent center in which students will practice their money skills as they evolve throughout the year. Because it is hands-on and fun, the students will be excited to use it and will be learning at the same time!

I want to make learning fun and exciting for all my students, however it is discouraging when they feel that no one cares about their education and making sure they have what they need and want to succeed. Teaching my students about financial literacy and how to manage their reward points will help them apply their knowledge to real-life financial situations and also teach them the value of saving and earning money.
