My Students

In the midst of living in shelters, being apart of a school that's 100% title 1 as well as free and reduced lunch, my scholars-throughout most all of their struggles-purpose themselves in pursuing higher heights, even when their backs are against the wall, and others count them out because of their socioeconomic status. They yearn for competition because of the struggles they have to deal with on the daily basis, when they leave GLECPVA. This makes them ready for this.

My Project

By obtaining instruments for our school, we will be able to build an ensemble that will be trumped by no other. First off, each student will be able to have their own instrument for instrumental music reading, practice purposes, team building, and competitions. Secondly, by having instruments for students, the spirit of the school will sky rocket, being we are now about to have a football team. Thirdly, students in this area will have college scholarships in their grasps via these instruments. Most of the students who attend our school for performing and visual arts are displaced due to Hurricane Harvey, and are lacking the funds to get instruments of their own because they are financially incapable of doing so due to them being in shelters and section 8 housing. By having instruments, scholars will be encouraged to push towards the goal of getting scholarships and setting the bar for their siblings who come behind them.
