Have you ever tried to fill up a teenager's stomach? It is impossible! Focus and steady hands are of upmost importance in my construction and carpentry classroom and shop, especially during the beginning of school when students are learning or refreshing on safety rules and safe use of tools and machinery. My high school construction and carpentry students enter my classroom from morning to afternoon with grumbling stomachs. Some students come from backgrounds where food insecurity is a daily struggle, while others come from homes where food is rarely an issue. Students from all walks of life swing by my classroom looking for a snack to get them through the day. Issues from social anxiety, forgotten lunches, bullying, poverty, and after school events all send students my way looking for food. I want all of my students to walk into my classroom knowing that a growling stomach and shaky hands will not interfere with their learning. Through Hungry No More: Part Two, you can fill a stomach and find a special way into their hearts.
